How to Apply for membership
The Shed commenced in the Autumn of 2016 and started out with a membership of five and has grown to a membership of 20.
We currently operate out of a shed located at the rear of the Salthill church. We also have a garden located at Gort Ard in Salthill. The Shed is open 2 days per week Tuesday and Thursday from 2.00 to 5.00 and members may stay longer if they so wish to finish off a project they may have started or they can attend on another day provided they are accompanied by a second member.
The Shed members are a diverse group of people. The Sheds policy is that the only limitation to activities is the ability to decide what needs to be undertaken.
Member safety is of utmost importance and this is stressed in all training sessions. The Sheds policy is to have two members present when working. While on the premises, the responsibility is on the individual member to ensure their own personal safety and others who may be present.
Irish Men’s Sheds Association, Strategic Plan
The Irish Men’s Shed are the organisation who coordinate and advise all of the Sheds in Ireland and they have a representative based in Galway who visits the Salthill Shed on a quarterly basis or by request to advise on Shed activities.
