The philosophy in the Shed is that it is important to look after both the mind and the body, managing mental health issues is a priority for the members.  On a twice weekly basis physical exercise is carried out prior to walking for approximately an hour, these are conducted by a qualified Physical Instructor.  Currently we have the use of Galilee House to carry out these exercises, however, space can be outsourced if needed if an activity which requires more space eg Tai Chi, Yoga and Meditation, there may be a cost associated with these activities payable by each individual participant.

The Irish Men’s Sheds Association have an annual NCT where a variety of tests and medical routines are conducted by qualified personnel on volunteer members, it is not compulsory, members are advised of each year’s NCT and location and is usually held about the middle of the year.

They carry out volunteer projects for the Council and tidied up a local nursing home garden, they are also actively involved with the Tidy Towns committee with recycling projects in an effort to achieve a higher position in the competition. They are considering the option of taking an allotment from the council to undertake a gardening project for next year if there is sufficient interest by members, one of the members has been nominated to pursue this project with the council.  Weekly meetings are held to advise members of what is currently going on or planned activities being considered.
